Introduction
This Policy affirms that care for the environment is both an immediate and long term responsibility of Opus International Consultants (UK) Ltd and its subsidiaries and that the Company will discharge that responsibility by adoption of sensible and accountable principles of sound practice and good design.
Policy Statement:
Pollution
The Company will take steps, in operations which it controls and through its designs, to prevent the release of any potential pollutant that might cause environmental damage to the air, water or earth, or harm its flora, fauna or human inhabitants.
Natural Resources
The Company will make and encourage sustainable use of renewable natural resources, such as water, soil and forest. The Company will conserve non-renewable natural resources through efficient use and careful planning.
Waste
The Company will use or specify recyclable materials wherever possible and priority will be given to the minimisation of waste at all stages of operations and to its disposal of through safe and responsible methods.
Energy
The Company will make prudent use of environmentally safe and sustainable energy resources in meeting its needs and will invest in improved energy efficiency and conservation in all of its operations.
Sustainable Development
The Company will promote the principles of sustainable development to clients in establishing the brief for projects and take all practical steps to minimise the environmental impact in its designs.
Biodiversity
The Company recognises the need for action to ensure continuing biodiversity of species and will work with clients to conserve and enhance habitats to achieve this objective.
Risk Reduction
The Company will minimise the environmental, health and safety risks to its employees and third parties by specifying and employing safe technologies and operating procedures and being constantly prepared to deal with emergencies.
Disclosure
The Company will disclose to its employees and to the public incidents relating to its operations that cause environmental harm or pose health and safety hazards. The Company will disclose potential environmental, health or safety hazards posed by its operations, and will not take any adverse action against employees who report any condition that creates a danger to the environment or poses health and safety hazards.
Implementation
The Company will commit management resources to implementing this Policy and it will be constantly monitored by Divisional Directors.
Amendments
The Company retains the right to alter all Policy Statements and Procedures at any time to take into account changes in legislation, working requirements and practices.
